Back in the day, when I was freshman in college, I took a course about the physics of vibrations and waves. The objective of this class was to study the response of simple systems using some mathematical tools. Although the whole concept was really straightforward to me, I faced a challenge after the end of the semester. The wheel of my car was vibrating right after a tire change. That was the first time I realized the importance of the simple tools I learned through my physics class. My car was equipted with some low quality alloy wheels. As a result significant imperfections caused the uneven distribution of mass around the rotation axis. The employee at the car station, forgot to balance the front right wheel and caused me a giant headache. Thankfully I remembered the simple problem of the rotating unbalance so I located the source of the vibrations in a few minutes. For me that was the first time I applied something I learned in college in real life. Recently while I was browsing on the web, I came across the following youtube video which reminded to me the whole incident. Here is an example of the lateral force introduced in a structural system due to uneven distribution of mass in a rotating object. You can assume that the circular plate is the wheel of your car and the thin metal supports are your car frame.
