Acoustical AMA with Steven Beck

For our first Acoustical AMA of the semester, we will be talking with Steven Beck of Beck Audio Forensics. Beck is an expert in Audio Forensics, has appeared in court as an expert witness, and has authored numerous court affidavits.

The Acoustical AMA series allows current students to meet with acoustical professionals in an informal setting and pick their brains concerning all things acoustics and related career paths.

Acoustical Ask-Me-Anything with Professor Steven Garret

The Austin ASA Student Chapter is very pleased to have Prof. Steven Garrett as this week’s installment of the Acoustical Ask-Me-Anything series! Dr. Garrett, now retired, is a former Professor of Acoustics at the Graduate Program at Penn State. He was the first Hunt Fellow of the ASA and has also received the ASA’s Silver Medal for Interdisciplinary Acoustics.

The Acoustical AMA series allows current students to meet with acoustical professionals in an informal setting and pick their brains concerning all things acoustics and related career paths.

Acoustical Ask-Me-Anything with Dr. Junghyun Park

This Friday, October 5 in ETC 4.150 at 3 PM

This week’s meeting will start with a short general meeting, followed by an Acoustical AMA. At the general meeting we will discuss the upcoming meetings for this month, as well as other things like shirts, ETS Lindgren, and other general Chapter business.

The Austin ASA Student Chapter is very pleased to have Dr. Junghyun Park as the next installment in this semester’s Acoustical Ask-Me-Anything series! Dr. Park is a Research Scientist in the Department of Earth Sciences at SMU. Her research has focused on the use of infrasound in the characterization of seismic activity, such as that resulting from underground nuclear explosions.

Acoustical AMA with Professor Christophe Schram

We are pleased to announce the first installment in this semester’s Acoustical Ask-Me-Anything series! Professor Christophe Schram is professor of Aeronautics and Aerospace at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Belgium. He is currently a visiting professor here at UT through the end of September. For more on Dr. Schram, see his faculty web page.

Acoustical Ask-Me-Anything with Dr. Preston Wilson

Friday, April 20 in ETC 4.150 at 3 PM

Has the tenure process ever seemed enigmatic or mysterious? Then join us this Friday when our very own Dr. Wilson will be talking about what goes into getting tenure from post-doc to full professor.

There will not be a scheduled meeting on Friday, 4 May. Our final meeting for the semester will be officer elections which will take place on Friday, 27 April. Meetings will resume with the Fall 2018 semester.

Come and join us this Friday when we sit down with Jeff Schmitt of ViAcoustics. Jeff received his master’s degree at UT under Elmer Hixson and since then he has over 30 years experience as an acoustic engineer. The Acoustical AMA series allows current students to meet with acoustical professionals in an informal setting and pick their brains concerning all things acoustics and related career paths.
