Welcome Back, Everyone!

Registration reopens on Monday, August 26th for continuing students. At that point you will be able to go online and add/drop the necessary classes; here are a few guidelines and resources to keep in mind.

If you need anything, it’s much better (and faster) to email me as opposed to calling me. I don’t tend to answer the phone when I have students in my office, but I check my email throughout the day.

Courses: Most of the language classes are full, but I’ll try to make adjustments as needed. If you need to change your language class, you’ll likely need to come to the advising office, WCH 4.116, to do so. If you’re sure you have no time conflicts or maximum hours issues, you can email me and let me know which section to put you in.

The Course Schedule for Fall 2013 is available here: http://registrar.utexas.edu/schedules/139

You can find the list of Asian Studies courses divided by area for the fall by visiting our website: click on Courses in the left-hand navigational bar and then click on Areas.

Online course descriptions can be found here: http://www.utexas.edu/cola/depts/asianstudies/courses/

Degree Audits: You can view your degree audit through the Interactive Degree Audit (IDA) system: http://registrar.utexas.edu/students/degrees/ida

Registration Advising: I will be available for walk-in advising from 9:00 – 12:00 and 1:15 – 4:30, Monday through Friday. HOWEVER, I am taking a class this fall on T/TH from 11:00 to 12:30, so I won’t be available at that time. I’m happy to talk with you about adjustments to your schedule and and deal with issues related to registration, but if you’re in need of more time-intensive advising (i.e., degree planning, scholastic probation, study abroad), please wait until after the first week of classes.

I look forward to seeing you all!

Any Singers or Instrumentalists Interested in Performing in Ensembles?

Any singers or instrumentalists interested in performing in a Butler School of Music Ensemble this Fall?

Information for most of our 30+ ensembles is now available online:

http://ww4.austin.utexas.edu/bsom/news/details.aspx?id=382

All Ensembles offered through the Butler School of Music are open to UT students of any major that meet the requirements (some require an audition, others are open enrollment). The link above provides info about auditions and registration. Most auditions occur the first week of classes.

Note: Longhorn Band has already auditioned and begun rehearsals for this Fall.

Hundreds of non-music majors participate in our ensembles each year and we love having them as part of the BSOM family.
