One of your goals for your first year in college, (and each year thereafter) should be to get to know at least one faculty member. From a purely pragmatic perspective, you’ll eventually need letters of recommendations for graduate or professional schools, jobs or fellowships, and faculty members who know you and your work provide much better references than those who do not. On a personal level, students who get acquainted with their professors feel more connected and engaged with college life. So the first step is visiting your professors during their office hours, which are generally posted on the course syllabus. This link to the Department of Asian Studies faculty page will provide contact information for your professors.
