Dae Sung Kim is a scientist, an engineer, and an inventor working at the University of Texas at Austin. He began his PhD study in Biomedical Engineering at UT Austin in Fall 2020. He received his BS in Biosystems Engineering at the University of Manitoba, and his MS in Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, where he developed mucoadhesive nanoparticles for hydrophobic drug delivery. He previously worked at the St. Boniface Hospital Research Center and acquired research training on immunomodulatory biomaterials and tissue engineering. His current research focuses on developing bio-inspired organ mimicry and exploring microbiome effects on various physiological diseases. He is currently developing a colorectal cancer-on-a-chip to study immunomodulatory effect of microbiome for advanced immunotherapy. During his spare time, he likes to play tennis and basketball, and he is a music-lover who plays the drum and guitar.
