Nam Than is a Ph.D. student in Biomedical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, entering Fall 2020. He obtained his BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UC Davis and later his MS in Biomedical Engineering at San Jose State University, where he developed a COMSOL model for simulation and enhancement of particle separation through deterministic lateral displacement. During his MS time, Nam also interned at IBM Research and gained experiences in machine learning and e-nose technology. His current interests include organ-on-a-chip, disease-on-a-chip, and the gut-brain axis, and he hopes to advance these areas through his diverse background. When not working, he likes to explore new realms through traveling, reading, and meeting with people.
