Research Area: Health informatics to promote older adults’ use of e-health literacy
Dr. Xie is a Professor at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing and School of Informatics. Her research reflects her interdisciplinary training in Medicine, Psychology, and Science and Technology Studies. She focuses on health informatics interventions that can promote older adults’ use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for health information and decision-making (i.e., e-health literacy) that may have important implications for patient-provider relationships and health outcomes. She holds a joint appointment in the School of Information.
Dr. Xie received her PhD in Science and Technology Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, her MS in Psychology from Peking University, and her B.Med.Sci. from the West China School of Medicine in Chengdu, China.
