Asian Studies is again offering Bengali

After an absence of two years, Bengali will once again be offered at UT.  The South Asia Institute has received a three-year grant to fund a lecturer to teach Bengali. Ahmed Shamim, a Ph.D. candidate at the City University of New York, has been hired and will be teaching BEN 506 and 312K in the fall, and BEN 507 and 312L in the spring.

If interested in furthering your study of Bengali, you are encouraged to enroll in BEN 312K this fall semester. If you don’t have the prerequisite (BEN 507), but are a heritage speaker of Bengali, please contact the instructor (ashamim@gradcenter.cuny.edu) to ask about a placement test for BEN 312K. You may be qualified to enroll in second-year Bengali.
