ART for non majors, DES + ARH spring 17 courses!

Non majors should first consider these great ART 320K+L options or DES 301 Intro to Design Thinking.  Non major ART topics include Art and Activism, Printmaking, and Drawing.

If they cannot get into one of the non major ART classes and are willing to try out a major restricted ART or DES course, they can understand the registration options/process here:
http://art.utexas.edu/current-students/non-majors

Most ARH lower + upper division courses are open to non majors from the start of registration.   See our website for full listing.  http://art.utexas.edu/current-students/vapa

There are three sections of ARH 303 Survey of Renaissance through Modern Art.  The only section open to non majors from the start of registration is the web based course with Dr. Ann Johns (#20075-20170). The other two in person courses are restricted for majors until registration access period #2 in January, when any unused seats will be opened to non majors.

ART 320K Non Majors
Art and Activism
20703     Fridays      9AM-1PM     ART 3.410     Heath Schultz

Out of the studio and into the streets! Using Nicolas Lampert’s book The People’s Art History of the United States as our primary text, this studio-seminar course will consider the intersections of art and activism by exploring how artists have participated in, intervened, and/or documented various civil rights and social justice movements in America since the 1940s. Under consideration will be unconventional and socially-situated artist practices that directly relate to social movements engaged in anti-war, anti-racist, worker’s justice, feminist, queer, and post-colonial politics and theory. In addition we will create our own artist projects including do-it-yourself zines, political graphics, stencils, and more!
