Spring Break 2019
Apply to be a Trip Leader or a Coordinating Board Member!
Alternative Breaks takes students on service trips across the country to examine and introduce participants to various aspects of social justice and intersectionality. Past Alternative Breaks trips have focused on 4 social issues within 4 different cities:
· New Orleans, LA: Systemic Racism
· San Francisco, CA: LGBTQ+ Advocacy
· McAllen, TX: Immigrant Rights
· Austin, TX: Gentrification in Austin
We are looking for student leaders who want to learn about social justice in a hands-on way and serve alongside a new community while serving as Trip Leaders (TLs). TLs will plan, coordinate, and facilitate these trips to both immerse themselves and participants in new community cultures, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the social issues facing a specific community.
Additionally, we are looking for student leaders to work as Coordinating Board (CBs) members for the duration of the AB season. CBs operate behind the scenes are are the backbones of the program alongside TLs. They are responsible for maintaining connections with community partners, as well as creating new partnerships and connecting with communities through social media. CBs are not required to attend AB trips, though they are more than welcome to apply as participants in the fall, as well. For more information, visit us at utbreaks.org.
Application Closes April 8th!
