Saadia Basit is a clinical pharmacy specialist in the General Mental Health Clinic at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Previously, she was a clinical pharmacist at Houston Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Basit received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY1 residency at the MEDVAMC, and then went on to complete a PGY2 residency in Psychiatry at UT Austin.

Dr. Basit currently holds an academic appointment as Assistant Professor in the Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences Department at Baylor College of Medicine. She is a member of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP). Dr. Basit’s research and practice interests include medication adherence in patients with mental health disorders. She is an active member of the VA’s Behavioral Health Steering Committee where her efforts focus on improving veterans’ adherence to antidepressant medications.
