Richard Bottner is a physician assistant in the division of hospital medicine and department of internal medicine at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas Austin. For the past two years, Rich has been the Director of Support Hospital Opioid Use Treatment (SHOUT) Texas – a program which supports patients with substance use disorders during hospitalization. This is the only program of its kind in the state. Rich is a national trainer for medications to treat opioid use disorder through the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry. Rich is a past president of the Central Texas PA Society and current co-chair of the Substance Use Disorder Special Interest Group of the Society of Hospital Medicine. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Health Administration degree from the Medical University of South Carolina.
