Presentation: Engaging Frontline Pharmacist in Antimicrobial Stewardship – Panel
Kathryn G. Merkel is a Clinical Pharmacy Manager at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas practicing previously as a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for six years. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University then went on to earn her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency and PGY-2 infectious diseases specialty residency at Indiana University Health. She is a Board Certified Pediatric and Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Specialist. Additionally, she is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Texas at Austin and serves as the Clinical/Hospital APPE coordinator for the Austin- Temple- Waco region. Her interests include antimicrobial stewardship, quality/process improvement, and education of the public on antimicrobial resistance.
