Presentation: Curbing the Epidemic of Opiate Abuse


Bio: Lucas Hill earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City before completing a two-year primary care residency and faculty development fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Hill is now a clinical assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. He provides patient care and precepts learners at the CommUnityCare Southeast Health & Wellness Center. While he spends most of his time helping patients manage chronic diseases like diabetes, Dr. Hill is also passionate about the integration of behavioral health and addiction treatment in primary care. He is Director of Operation Naloxone, a program that provides overdose prevention training and resources to students, health professionals, and the public. He also co-coordinates the Foundations for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice course established by UT Pharmacy, Nursing, Social Work, and Medicine. Dr. Hill is Faculty Advisor of the Student Pharmacist Recovery Network, Social Media Editor for iForumRx, and an affiliate of the Center for Health Communication.
