The Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies in collaboration with the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for the position of tenuretrack assistant professor, with an anticipated start in the fall semester 2018. We seek applications from scholars who work on Russia/the former Soviet Union, and Eastern or East Central Europe who specialize in the social sciences (with a preference for Sociology, Anthropology, Geography, or Political Science). Engagement in interdisciplinary and digital scholarship is welcome, and all candidates must have an active research and publication agenda. Teaching duties will include a two course per semester load and the selected candidate will be expected to exhibit a commitment to service in the department, center, college, and university, and be qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as direct graduate and undergraduate student independent research.

Salary is based upon qualifications and experience.

Successful candidate should have a PhD in hand in the social sciences with a focus on Slavic or Eurasian Studies, strong research and publication agenda, and evidence of excellence in teaching and/or strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.
