Academic Job: Asst. Prof. Rus Studies (New College of FL)

New College of Florida invites applications for the position of a visiting Assistant Professor in Russian language, literature, and culture, with an anticipated appointment start date of August 2019. This position is renewable on a yearly basis for up to three years. New College is a small, nationally recognized, highly selective liberal arts college and the designated honors college of the Florida public state university system located on Sarasota Bay.

The department is seeking a candidate with a strong research program and dedication to undergraduate teaching of Russian language, literature, and culture. While the area of specialization is open, expertise in twenty-first and twentieth-century literature and culture is preferred. Experience in teaching Russian film is welcome. The candidate will be expected to teach the Russian language at all levels and Russian literature and culture courses in English. The standard teaching load is two courses per semester (one language course and one literature course per semester; four courses per academic year) plus supervision of tutorials and direction of January-term Independent Study Projects (ISPs). New College encourages visiting faculty to develop courses that build on their own scholarly expertise and serve the larger goals of the Russian program and the college. Native or near-native proficiency in Russian and English required; must have a Ph.D. in hand by August 2019.
