January 31 is the deadline to apply for funding for the summer 2020 Indiana University Language Workshop and its overseas programs.
Title VIII, FLAS, and other funding is available to support students of Russian, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian (BCS), Ukrainian, Hungarian, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Kyrgyz, Mongolian, Turkmen, Uzbek, and 13 other languages.
Fellowships and scholarships are available for graduate students, undergraduate students, researchers, and lifelong learners.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: The Workshop offers four types of classes.
1. IMMERSION PROGRAMS
Students of RUSSIAN, ARABIC, and CHINESE study in intensive 8- or 9-week courses on the IU main campus, with daily small-group and individualized tutoring run by Language Flagship personnel, daily in-language activities, language dorms shared with native speakers, in an all- Russian (Arabic, Chinese) environment. Russian 6 (and Arabic 4) include online academic seminars conducted by experts in their fields. (1 year of instruction; 8-10 credits; funding available)
2. ONLINE + OVERSEAS PROGRAMS
Students of BCS 2 or UZBEK 1 work with an IU instructor online for 4 weeks (80 hours) of intensive study, then study with the same instructor in an overseas immersion program (in Zagreb for BCS 2; in Samarkand for Uzbek). (1 year of instruction; 8 credits; funding available)
3. INTENSIVE NON-IMMERSION PROGRAMS
Students of the languages below study in intensive, accelerated courses 20 hours/week for 8 weeks on the IU main campus.
AZERBAIJANI, BCS 1, BURMESE, ESTONIAN, HUNGARIAN, INDONESIAN, JAPANESE, KOREAN, KURDISH, KYRGYZ, LATVIAN, LITHUANIAN, MONGOLIAN, PERSIAN, SWAHILI, TURKISH, TURKMEN, and UKRAINIAN. (1 year of instruction; 8-10 credits; funding available)
4. ONLINE PROGRAMS
Students of DUTCH and PASHTO study in with an IU instructor online for 20 hours/week of intensive study for 8 weeks. (1 year of instruction; 8 credits; funding available)
All participants pay in-state tuition rates.
Graduate credit available.
