Devouring Japan 2013 – 2014

A yearlong series of interdisciplinary programming on Japanese cuisine, food culture, and its global influence.


The Center for East Asian Studies at The University of Texas at Austin, with the generous support of the Japan Foundation and the Northeast Asia Council – Association for Asian Studies, presents a series of lectures, films and events on Japanese cuisine and culinary practice.

As a culminating event, in February 2014, the Devouring Japan Conference will feature leading scholars in Japanese studies and food studies in an interactive, two-day seminar.

All events are open to the public, though seating will be limited and pre-regisitration may be required for some events.
