Farid Khosravikia (فرید خسروی کیا)
Summary: Farid is a postdoctoral fellow at The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin). He has a Ph.D. in civil engineering (with MS in sustainable systems engineering and minor in statistics) from UT Austin. His research mainly focuses on investigating civil infrastructure responses to natural hazards, particularly to earthquakes, at both structural and regional scales. At the core level, he integrates artificial intelligence, systems engineering, structural, and earthquake engineering to create reliable and efficient predictive models, computational tools, and data-driven methodologies to evaluate risk, reliability, and resilience of structures and systems. His research has been recognized by multiple awards such as Excellence in Research from Dell Company, as well as Early Career Awards from Structural Engineering Institute and the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency. He was also runner up for the Graduate School Three Minute Thesis Competition at UT Austin. His commitments and contributions to the campus activities garnered recognition in spring 2020, when he received the Student Leadership Award, annually given to two graduate students from across UT Austin.
