Farid Khosravikia (فرید خسروی کیا)
Summary: Farid joined the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin as a PhD student in 2016. He received his Bachelor’s degree (2013) in civil engineering and Master’s degree (2015) in structural engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Iran. His research interests have centered around the disaster risk assessment of man-made environments, including the subsequent quantification of resilience and sustainability. In 2018, while studying for PhD, he obtained an additional Master’s degree in sustainable systems from The University of Texas at Austin, where he gained additional interest in conducting research on sustainable hazard-resisting urban systems. His work focuses on the application of probabilistic models and machine learning techniques in developing state-of-the-art frameworks to (1) characterize different natural hazards such as earthquake and flood in urban areas; (2) structural reliability of built environments including but not limited to bridge portfolios and residential buildings (3) network analysis and systems engineering of urban infrastructures for infrastructure-level risk and resilience based decision making.
