    • Legacy Scholar Award from The University of Texas at Austin, February 2020

Farid was selected as a Legacy Scholar for the Spring 2020 semester at the Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Department of The University of Texas at Austin. This departmental scholarship, $3,500, is given to 3 graduate students to support their proposed research.


    • Student Leadership Award from The University of Texas at Austin, February 2020

Farid received the Student Leadership Award from Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. This award annually recognizes two graduate students who have motivated, guided, mentored, and supported Cockrell School student organizations by working effectively with colleagues, honoring contributions, and pushing others to excel.

The award is given by Dr. Sharon Wood, the dean of the Cockrell School of Engineering

    • Dell Research Award in Graduate and Industry Networking Event, February 2020

Farid received the Excellence in Research Award from Dell company at the 2020 Graduate and Industry Networking Event at The University of Texas at Austin (UT). This award was given to 2 graduate students among over 80 participants from all engineering departments of UT.


    • Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Student Scholarship, January 2020

Farid received the American Society of Civil Engineers SEI student scholarship. This award includes registration and travel grants for the 2020 Structures Congress on April 5-8 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.


    • Runner-up for Three Minute Thesis Competition at The University of Texas at Austin, October 2019

Farid won second place (runner-up) in the Graduate School Three Minute Thesis Competition at The University of Texas at Austin. Farid was runner up for “Dangerous Earthquakes Triggered by Humans in Central U.S.” The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition celebrates the exciting research conducted by graduate students. The competition is among all departments such as education, fine arts, liberal arts, natural sciences, pharmacy, medical, engineering, liberal art, public affairs, law, social work, and so on. The competition supports students’ capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.

    • Kolodzey Travel Grant from The University of Texas at Austin, October 2018

Farid was selected as one of the three PhD students to receive Kolodzey travel grant from the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering of The University of Texas at Austin. This award includes registration and travel grants for the 2019 Structures Congress in Orlando, Florida, USA.


    • Early Career Professional Award from U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency, February 2018

Farid received the Early Career Professional Fund through support from the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Pankow Foundation, and EERI. This award includes registration and travel grants for the 11th US National Conference on Earthquake Engineering (11NCEE) on June 25-29, 2018, in Los Angeles, California, USA.


    • Professional Development Award from The University of Texas at Austin, December 2017

Professional Development Award provides support for graduate students with an excellent academic background to attend major professional meetings or conferences at which they present an original paper based on their research. Farid was selected for this award because of his outstanding presentation on Risk-based Assessment of Texas Bridges to Natural and Induced Seismic Hazards in 2017 ASCE Congress on Technical Advancement on September 10-13 in Duluth, Minnesota, USA.


    • Four-Year Graduate Fellowship from The University of Texas at Austin, May 2016

It is a four-year fellowship given to only a few graduate students with an excellent academic background. This payment, which is around $9,000 per year, is in addition to his stipend as a graduate research assistant at the University of Texas at Austin.


    • Two-Year Level-One Scholarship at Sharif University of Technology, Iran, 2015

Farid was selected and awarded as one of the graduate students of the National Elites Foundation of Iran. This award, two-year level-one scholarship, is annually given to less than 1% of graduate students from all across the country based on students’ ranking in the university entrance exam for Master’s degree and their performance within the graduate school.


    • Ranked 13th in the Iranian Nationwide M.Sc. Entrance Exam for graduate school in Civil Engineering, 2013

Farid got ranked 13th amongst more than 30,000 qualified participants in the nationwide Entrance Exam for graduate school in civil engineering.


    • Four-Year Level-One Scholarship at Sharif University of Technology, Iran, 2009

Farid was selected and awarded as one of the undergraduate students of the National Elites Foundation of Iran. This award, four-year scholarship, is annually given to less than 1% of the undergraduate students from all across the country based on students’ ranking in the university entrance exam for Bachelor’s degree and their performance within the university.


    • Ranked 41st in the Iranian Nationwide University Entrance Exam, 2008

Farid got ranked 41st amongst more than 350,000 participants in the Nationwide University Entrance Exam of Iran.


    • Selected and Honored in the National Math Olympiad, Iran, 2006

Farid was one of the finalists for the National Math Olympiad in Iran.
