School of Human Ecology Centennial Celebration

Boy-oh-boy are we planning a party! The School of Human Ecology (and the discipline of Home Economics) will be celebrating 100 years as part of The University of Texas at Austin. A century! We are going to have to celebrate in a big way.

Centennial Speaker Panel, 2:00pm, Texas Union Ballroom–amazing speakers, amazing topic.

Beverly Kearney, one of the most decorated and celebrated track coaches in collegiate athletics, Garrett Weber-Gale, two-time Olympic gold-medal-winning and four-time-world-record holding swimmer (proud Texas Ex and rising culinary star), and Marissa Duswalt, currently the associate director of policy and events for First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative — each of these individuals has a great story to tell about getting from here to there and a unique perspective on “How Healthy Choices Enhance Lives.”

Coordinated Program in Dietetics (formerly the CUP) reunion, 6-9pm, H.J. Lutcher Center for Physical Culture and Sports (N. entrance of DKR Stadium)–re-meet your friends and classmates

Centennial Fall Event, Buildings and Programs Tours, 9 am-3 pm–Join us for student led tours of the School of Human Ecology’s new buildings and the iconic Mary E. Gearing Hall in celebration of how our work has been changing the world for 100 years.

Student Celebration, 5:00pm, Gearing Hall courtyard–No one celebrates louder or better than our students! Please join us as we count down to the moment (5:39pm) when the Tower is bathed in burnt orange.

Centennial Gala, reception begins at 7pm, dinner follows, Etter-Harbin Alumni Center
