Analyzing Colombia’s Painful Memory with Voyant Tools

Analyzing Colombia’s Painful Memory with Voyant Tools
Wednesday, October 18, 12–1:30pm, PCL Learning Lab 3

Curious about text mining? Using her research on the violence that took place from the 1980s through the early 2000s in Colombia as a case study, Department of History doctoral candidate Jimena Perry will introduce Voyant Tools, a web-based analysis platform for digital texts. Participants will conduct a distant reading of survivor testimonies preserved at the Hall of Never More (Granada, Colombia) and related sources to discern patterns and textual relationships in the corpus.
