Dr. Magruder joined the department as an Associate Professor in Fall 2020 when she transitioned to ASE from her position as a Senior Research Scientist at UT Austin’s Applied Research Laboratories. She held that position since 2007 and has an existing research portfolio supporting geospatial applications using remote sensing.
Dr. Magruder holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree from Princeton University. Her Ph.D. is from UT Austin. Her graduate work focused on validation strategies for a NASA Earth observing, laser altimetry satellite. After finishing school, Dr. Magruder worked at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory as Professional Research Staff prior to coming back to Austin.
