Dr. Thurman is a postdoctoral fellow in the Health Outcomes Division at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. Dr. Thurman joined the College of Pharmacy in June 2018 after completing her PhD in Nursing and a three-year stint as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Scholar at the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing. Her research interests center on improving the health and health care of vulnerable populations including adults with disabilities, adults experiencing homelessness, and individuals living in rural areas. Dr. Thurman has nearly 15 years of nursing experience including 4 years as a clinical instructor of public health nursing at the UT Austin School of Nursing and 3 years as the Director of Clinical Affairs for a statewide membership association for Federally Qualified Health Centers in Texas.
Chinyere Mma Okoh is a graduate student in the Health Outcomes Division at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. Chinyere is from Nigeria, and obtained here BSc in Pharmacy from the University of Ibadan. Her undergraduate thesis was titled “frequency, types and factors associated with potentially harmful drug interactions among elderly patients in Nigeria”. Her research interests include improving access to health care and improving health outcomes among vulnerable populations, medication adherence and utilization, and public health. She is involved as a UT Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) representative and a member of International Society for Pharmaceutical Outcomes & Research (ISPOR) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
Mandy Renfro is a 3rd year pharmacy student and has worked as a research assistant for Dr. Moczygemba since May 2017. Her research areas of interest are pharmacist services for mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. She is completing the PharmD Honors Program, and the title of her research is “U.S Colleges of Pharmacy Continuing Education Departments Role in Educating Pharmacists about the Opioid Crisis – A Public Health Emergency”. In the summer of 2018, Mandy served as the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Foundation Nonprofit Leadership and Managed Care Research Intern in Alexandria, VA. After her PharmD graduation in 2020, she plans to pursue a health economics and outcomes research fellowship or graduate degree.
Anthony Hudzik is a 2nd year pharmacy student. He is a research assistant for Dr. Moczygemba and has worked with her since June 2018. His research involves developing a transitions of care program with a local independent pharmacy. He is completing the PharmD Honors Program and will graduate in 2021. His career goals after pharmacy school involve pursing a role in the pharmaceutical industry. His hobbies include bouldering, petting cats, and basketball.
Kyler Tormey is a Doctor of Pharmacy candidate at the University of Texas College of Pharmacy in the Class of 2021. Prior to matriculation, she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Texas A&M University. Kyler works as a research assistant for Dr. Moczygemba and her interests include medication therapy management and women’s health. Also at the college, Kyler is Co-Chair of Know Your Medicine Outreach and is an active member of the Student Society of Health System Pharmacists and Phi Delta Chi.
Lauren Welton-Arndt is currently a P2 at the College of Pharmacy! She holds a B.A in Biochemistry from Lawrence University and is from Middleton, Wisconsin. Lauren is interested in pursuing a career in health policy and health outcomes research in industry. She serves as the vice president of Kappa Epsilon, co-faculty relations chair on pharmacy council, and is an active member of APSA. She works at Tarrytown Expocare Pharmacy in addition to working as a research assistant for Dr. Moczygemba.
