Student Credentialing

Prior to participation in the Institutional IPPE, Community IPPE, and all P4 APPE courses, students must have:

  1. all required and elective pharmacy coursework and programmatic requirements to date
  2.  immunizations as required by the Texas Administrative Code, Title 25, Health Services, 97.63, and have been screened for tuberculosis per the attached policy Immunizations Requirements and immunization certification through APhA
  3.  liability insurance payment for coverage of $2 – $6 million through a UT System-selected carrier. Policy runs September 1-August 31
  4. a current Texas State Board of Pharmacy internship card
  5. a criminal history check and drug screen as outlined in the policy Criminal Background Check and Drug Screen Policy
  6. certification, earned through one of the college’s laboratories, of American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED)
  7. health insurance coverage
  8. completed training modules in HIPAA, bloodborne pathogens, and Medicare Part D: Fraud, Waste and Abuse
  9. acknowledged Technical Standards for Pharmacy Education, The University of Texas at Austin
  10. Medication Therapy Management (MTM) certification through APhA

Prior to the P4 year, students will also receive TSBP-approved training in sterile admixtures.
