Dr. Nathan Pope is the Residency Program Director for the H-E-B Pharmacy/University of Texas College of Pharmacy Community Pharmacy Residency Program (CPRP) and Clinical Associate Professor of Health Outcomes & Pharmacy Practice. The residency is dedicated to developing compassionate, confident, clinical providers of advanced patient care services in a community pharmacy setting.  Dr. Pope is an advocate for all Community Pharmacy Practice Residencies, developing innovative practice settings, and outcomes from those practices. ClarkLauren Clark, Pharm.D.

Lauren Clark received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007. Upon graduation she worked as a long term care pharmacist for The Asista Corporation where she served as both a consultant pharmacist reviewing medication regimens as well as part of a collaborative practice team consisting of physicians, mid-level practitioners, and nurses working together to intake patients and develop care plans.  Lauren has worked as a pharmacist for HEB grocery since 2007 and a pharmacy manager since 2009.  She is a preceptor for both the University of Texas at Austin and The Texas State Board of Pharmacy and serves as a site coordinator for the HEB/University of Texas PGY-I Residency Program. Throughout the year she will have students in her pharmacy completing practice experiences ranging from the IPPE experience to students in their last year of school on APPE rotations. Lauren is a certified immunizer and loves to take her passion for vaccinating Texans on the road by doing offsite flu clinics throughout the city.  She is MTM certified and an HEB Pharmacy Rising Star Award Nominee. Lauren has served as the President, President-Elect, and Program coordinator for the Capital Area Pharmacy association. In her free time she loves running marathons and enjoying everything there is to see and do in her hometown of Austin, Texas.


ComfortMark Comfort, Pharm.D.

Dr. Mark Comfort, PharmD is currently Pharmacy Manager at HEB Pharmacy #425. This pharmacy is the highest volume pharmacy at HEB and is the only 24 hour location in the company. Dr. Comfort has been a Pharmacy Manager at HEB for the past 13 years and worked for HEB for the past 19 years. He is an active immunizer and participates in Medication Therapy Management services through OutcomesMTM. Dr. Comfort serves as a preceptor for the State of Texas and for the University of Texas at Austin. He oversees the training of many pharmacy student interns each year and has experience with general interns, Community IPPE students, Rotational Students, and Pharmacy Residents. Dr. Comfort is an active member of the Texas Pharmacy Association (TPA) and the Capital Area Pharmacy Association (CAPA). He is currently the President-Elect for TPA and represents pharmacists throughout the state by serving on the Board for TPA. Dr. Comfort’s goals are to improve patient care and to serve as a role model for new practitioners. He is an advocate for Pharmacist provided services and participates in local and state organizations in order to help shape the future of pharmacy practice. In his downtown, Dr. Comfort enjoys time with his family, high intensity alpha training, and watching Netflix as much as possible.


LeckbeeGretta Leckbee, RPh

Gretta Leckbee has practiced as a Registered Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager for HEB, a regional grocery store chain in Austin, Texas, for 17 years. She has also served as the Regional Immunization Coordinator for HEB in the Central Region of Texas for the last 10 years.  Gretta received her B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Houston, College of Pharmacy in Houston, Texas.  She has served as a pharmacy student preceptor for The University of Texas, TA&M, and Incarnate Word since 2000 supervising both IPPE and APPE students., and also as a site coordinator for the HEB/University of Texas PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Residency Program for the last 5 years.  Gretta has been recognized by her peers by receiving the HEB “Rising Star” award in 2007, as well as the “Horizon” award in 2014, which recognize pharmacists with a commitment to clinical/professional services, and the Outstanding Preceptor award from HEB/University of Texas in 2010.

She serves as instructor for the APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery certificate program since 2004 & is responsible for training & guiding new pharmacists at HEB in the role of Immunizing Pharmacist.  Gretta is Medication Therapy Management Certified completing cases utilizing the Mirixa and Outcomes platforms and uses this skill when precepting pharmacy students and community pharmacy residents.

Gretta has served on the Board of Directors for the Capitol Area Pharmacists Association since 2009 and has also served as a Delegate to the House of Delegates for both the Texas Pharmacy Association (TPA), as well as American Pharmacists Association (APhA).


WeemsJames Weems, RPh

James Weems is a community pharmacist working for HEB Pharmacy in Austin, Texas. He graduated with a B.S. in Pharmacy from UT Austin in 1988 and has worked in community pharmacy since. James worked for Eckerd Drugs in Austin for 11 years and has worked as Pharmacy Manager for HEB at the SOCO location since 2000. James is a preceptor for both the State of Texas and the UT Austin College of Pharmacy. He has precepted many interns over the years in P1 summer internships, UT’s MTM IPPE course and P4 APPE rotations. He has been a preceptor in the HEB/University of Texas PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency program since 2009. James is active in Pharmacy organizations at the local (CAPA, with past stints as president and board member going back 20 years), state (TPA) and national levels (ACCP and APHA, where he is a member of Special Interest Groups in MTM and precepting, in addition to serving as abstract and poster judge for the annual conventions). James has volunteered at the Volunteer Health Clinic for many years and has in the past been part of a local team sending medical missions to Mexico. James is a past recipient of HEB’s Horizon Award recognizing achievements in Pharmacy practice. He has APHA certifications as an immunizer and MTM provider. James is husband to Digna and father to Amanda, Michael and Javier. His hobbies are currently reading, bicycling and swimming, in no particular order.


Jennifer Wilbanks Jennifer Wilbanks, Pharm.D.

Jennifer Wilbanks is the newest preceptor to join the HEB/University of Texas Community Pharmacy Residency program team.  She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Houston, College of Pharmacy in 2002 fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a pharmacist.  Jennifer began working in a pharmacy at age 16 as a cashier and worked her way up to pharmacy intern while in college.  Upon graduation she worked in both community and hospital pharmacies. Jennifer joined the HEB team in 2004 when she opened their newest Bryan store as pharmacy manager.  She currently manages HEB Pharmacy #479 in Pflugerville where she is an APhA certified immunizer and an active participant in Medication Therapy Management.  Jennifer serves as a preceptor for The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy and supervises both IPPE & APPE student interns, as well as the HEB P1 Summer Pharmacy Intern Program. Her passion for incorporating MTM into daily workflow & collaboration with interns helped her pharmacy to achieve “Best In Class” rating in 2014 by the Outcomes MTM program, and HEB #479 continues to be one of the top performing HEB Pharmacies in the Central Texas region.


Amanda KernodleAmanda Stallings, Pharm.D.

Amanda Stallings received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana in 2015. Upon graduation she moved to the great state of Texas for her post graduate training with the H-E-B Pharmacy/University of Texas PGY1 Community Residency Program. After completing her residency training she continued to work for H-E-B Pharmacy in a variety of roles including pharmacy manager and staff pharmacist. Currently she is a full-time Staff Pharmacist with H-E-B Pharmacy #183 (Austin 15). As a community pharmacist and former residency graduate she works to advance patient care each day by providing excellent patient-centered education and clinical services such as medication therapy management and immunizations. She also strives to be an engaged member of the community through community service at the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic. Another aspect of her life as a pharmacy practitioner is her involvement in professional organizations by serving as the New Practitioner Mentor for the UT Chapter of APhA-ASP and serving on the board of directors for the Capital Area Pharmacy Association. Additionally, she has a passion for working with students and training the next generation of pharmacists which led to her involvement in the residency program. Outside of the pharmacy, she enjoys camping, hiking, kayaking and all things outdoors with her husband and dog, Bailey.
