Requirements:

  • Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE-accredited institution
  • Eligible for Texas licensure
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • A strong desire to strengthen their clinical, academic, research, and leadership skills.

Stipend:
Residents will receive a competitive salary of ~$41,000 plus excellent employee benefits.  Residents will also receive support to attend national and state pharmacy association meetings.


Description:
St. David’s South Austin Medical Center (SDSAMC) provides the resident with a solid foundation in acute patient care. Required learning experiences include: Hospital Pharmacy Practice, Internal Medicine, Pharmacy Administration and Management, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine and Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant. Longitudinal learning experiences are Residency Research Project, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Inpatient Staffing and Academic Teaching Certificate. The elective learning experiences are flexible based on the resident’s goals and options include: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Shock Trauma, Palliative Care, Pharmacy Informatics and Free Standing Emergency Department. SDSAMC is a preceptor site for University of Texas IPPE and APPE pharmacy students. The resident has the opportunity to present their research project at the ASHP mid-year meeting, the TSHP Alcalde meeting and the Celebrating Pharmacy Research Excellence Day at University of Texas.

SDSAMC is recognized as a certified stroke response center and level 2 trauma center as well as has a level 2 nursery, the busiest Adult ER in Austin with 110,000 visits per year, a Davinci robot for surgery and the only bone marrow transplant unit in Austin. We have 2 free standing emergency departments and 1 urgent care clinic affiliated with the hospital. Our residency program has an affiliation with the University of Texas College of Pharmacy. St. David’s Healthcare is ranked 15th in Thomas Reuters ranking of healthcare systems, was awarded the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2014 and is voted annually as one of the best places to work in the Austin American Statesman newspaper.
