Kasey Leggette Pena, Pharm.D.
Kasey Leggette Pena, PharmD is a clinical psychiatric pharmacist at the Austin State Hospital (ASH). As a clinical pharmacist, Dr. Pena serves as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team and teaches a weekly medication education class. She provides direct care to adult patients suffering from a variety of psychiatric disease states and the specialty forensic population. She also completes formal psychopharmacology consults as requested by ASH physicians. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Pena also works in the ASH pharmacy, precepts residents and pharmacy student interns on clinical psychiatry rotations, and serves as a member of the ASH Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Dr. Pena earned her doctor of pharmacy degree at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy in 2012. She then completed an ASHP Accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Houston, Texas in 2013 before going on to complete an ASHP Accredited PGY-2 Specialty Residency in Psychiatric Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin/Seton Healthcare Network in 2014. Prior to her current position at ASH, Dr. Pena practiced clinical pharmacy at CommUnityCare Health Centers in Austin, Texas.
She is a member of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacist (CPNP) and the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, working on “DIY” projects at home, and exploring the great city of Austin, Texas! Hook ‘em Horns!
