Melissa Lewis, Pharm.D., BCPP
Melissa Lewis, PharmD, BCPP is the pharmacy director for Seton Shoal Creek behavioral health hospital. She has been in this role since June of 2013. She received her Doctorate of Pharmacy of the University of New Mexico in 2007. Dr. Lewis completed a PGY-1 general pharmacy residency at the VA in Seattle, Washington and a PGY-2 psychiatric pharmacy residency at The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to entering her role as pharmacy director, she worked as a clinical-staff pharmacist for 4 years with the HealthEast Care System in St. Paul, Minnesota. Dr. Lewis provided decentralized pharmacy services for a downtown St. Paul trauma emergency department and established pharmacy services for a psychiatric and addiction medicine patient care units. While in Minnesota, Dr. Lewis obtained her Board Certification in Psychiatric Pharmacy (BCPP) in 2011, and was honored with the Pharmacist of the Year for 2013 award from the Minnesota Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists Association.
As the pharmacy leader for the Seton Shoal Creek behavioral health hospital, Dr. Lewis is committed to exceptional patient care. Her mission is optimizing the medication use system at Seton Healthcare Family focusing on quality improvement opportunities in psychopharmacology services. Dr. Lewis is the coordinator for the Seton Shoal Creek Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and sits a psychiatric pharmacy representative on various other Seton Network committees. She also serves as an Adjunct Faculty for the College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin Division of Health Outcomes and Pharmacy Practice. Dr. Lewis is a primary preceptor for various pharmacy resident and IPPE rotations. She is an active member of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) and the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP). Dr. Lewis also volunteers at the Samaritan Health Ministries free clinic in Cedar Park, TX.
