We perform research on GPS-denied autonomous onboard navigation with particular emphasis on vision-based techniques. These include:
- Optical Cameras. Image correlation, feature detection, optical flow.
- LIDARs. Both scanning and flash, point cloud processing and registration.
Prior work in this area includes Orion’s celestial navigation using optical cameras and Cygnus’ relative navigation using scanning LIDARs.
