Smoking Cessation
Smoking Cessation is a project SASPA participates in along with UT-ASP and AHEC. Groups of students attend different venues and educate the community on smoking cessation.
Food Drive Competition
This past Fall semester the students and faculty competed with one another to see who could donate the most dry goods to the San Antonio Food Bank. The students weren’t so lucky this year, but surely the competition will become more fierce in the future.
Monthly Potlucks
The last Thursday of each month we cooridinate a breakfast potluck. It is a great opportunity for the students to casually mingle with the residents, faculty, and staff before class starts.
Pharmacy Field Day
Every spring, the College of Pharmacy staff here in San Antonio put on a field day full of activities and food. All San Antonio pharmacy students are invited to attend.
Susan Komen Race for the Cure
San Antonio’s Race for the Cure occurs during the Spring Semester, and faculty and students have a chance to participate in the race as a team. It’s a great way to give back to the community, and have fun in the process.
Bake Sales
Each semester we host a bake sale at the Health Professions’ building next door. It is great to have the support and interest of our fellow healthcare collegues.
Fireside Chats
Fireside chats are a fun way for students to get to know a local San Antonio faculty member outside of the classroom. The event is often a potluck dinner provided by the students.
Faculty Appreciation
We are so appreciative of all our faculty and all they do. Every spring, the students get an opportunity to celebrate our professors with breakfast and thank you notes.
Other Events
Students also particiapte in many other events such as the San Fernando Cathedral Safety and Health Fair, San Antonio Heart Walk, and taking a tour of HEB’s Central Fill Pharmacy.
