Sociological Insight is looking for Associate Editors for the 2014-2015 school year! If you are a student at UT-Austin, find out more information or to get applications, email the following:

Applications can be also be obtained and returned at the sociology advising office in CLA 1.216. The deadline for applications is September 26th, 2014.

The Sociological Insight executive staff will also be present with applications at the UT sociology department’s meet-and-greet in CLA at 5p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014. We will be happy to there accept completed applications or answer any questions applicants have about the journal.

Associate Editors peer-review submitted research in conjunction with graduate student support to ensure quality papers are published. The position is an integral part of the journal and an opportunity to learn vital editing, writing, research and marketing skills. The position also benefits students interested in writing their own undergraduate thesis or who are looking for career experience prior to graduate school. Students do not need prior editing experience to apply.



Submission Deadline for Volume 7

Hello everyone,

We would like to inform interested student researchers that this year’s deadline for submissions  will be November 15th, 2014. Publication of Volume 7 is expected in May 2015. More information about the our editing process and our guidelines can be found on the REVIEW PROCESS and SUBMITTING TO SOCIOLOGICAL INSIGHT pages respectively.

Please note: submissions will be considered for acceptance so long as the research was conducted while the researcher was an undergraduate student.

New website and book review time!

Welcome to our new website! We have officially moved from and all information concerning Sociological Insight will be here instead. Regarding the journal, we are currently looking for poignant and compelling book reviews to publish in volume 5, the next issue. The reviews can be written by either undergraduate or graduate students, and should be on social science books published within the past two years. Contact the editorial staff with submissions and further concerns.
