Sexual Minority Youth Alcohol Use: Risk and Protective Factors

Led by Jessica Fish, this three-year project funded by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism explores mechanisms that increase risk for excessive alcohol use and alcohol use disorders among LGBQ youth and young adults within a developmental context. The goal is to identify modifiable risk and protective factors with a specific focus on assessing differences across gender, sexual identity, and race/ethnicity. Ultimately, we aim to inform prevention and intervention efforts focused on reducing LGBQ youth alcohol use and alcohol use disorders.
