Edna Domínguez, Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, and Adriana Alicea Rodriguez, Office of the Dean of Students, will present “Lessons from the Trenches: The Experiences of Latino Professionals” at the 2014 Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA) annual conference in Baltimore this March.
Jaden Felix, Office of the Dean of Students, was selected as the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute December Alumnus of the Month.
Mona Ghosheh, Counseling and Mental Health Center, has completed two major hurdles toward becoming a licensed psychologist. She has passed the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) and the Jurisprudence exam.
Diane Lewis, Counseling and Mental Health Center, successfully passed the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) Initial Certification Examination in Psychiatry. She is now an ABPN diplomate in psychiatry and a board certified psychiatrist.
Soncia Reagins-Lilly, Dean of Students, was selected as chair of the Office of the Dean of Students Program Review Committee for the University of Houston.
Adriana Alicea Rodriguez, Office of the Dean of Students, will be awarded the Mena-Valdez Outstanding Mid-Level Professional Award by the NASPA-Latino Knowledge Community organization at the annual conference in March.
Gale Stuart, Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, will present at the 14th annual Texas A&M Assessment Conference on “Transformative Learning in a Campus Residence Hall Museum – Credibility for ‘No Credit’ Learning.”

Congratulations to our 21 Division staff members who have been certified as Certified True Colors® Personal Success Facilitators. The group successfully completed training in early December. As part of the Division’s Strategic Plan, these facilitators will lead True Colors® Personal Success Seminars for all Division benefits eligible staff this semester. This fun and interactive program will help our staff explore their own and others’ distinctive personality strengths and stressors. The goal is to learn how to respect and appreciate the ways people view their environment and better understand relationship building, effective communication and team effort.
