Melissa Eshelman, Counseling and Mental Health Center, accepted an invitation to serve as vice-chair for the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians (TSPP) Child and Adolescent Committee for 2014­–15. She also serves as the Austin Chapter Delegate for the TSPP Executive Council.

Greg Liotta, Center for Students in Recovery, presented at the Association of Recovery in Higher Education (ARHE) Conference in Minneapolis on “The Common Thread.” The interactive workshop is designed to help students explore compulsive behaviors, addictions and coping skills.

Adriana Alicea-Rodriguez, Office of the Dean of Students, created a banner that was chosen among dozens of others to depict the theme “East Meets West” during the cultural and education exchange Legends of China trip.

Jessica Hughes Wagner, University Health Services, will be published in The Journal of American College Health. Here article is a collaboration with Department of Advertising professors Mike Mackert and Maria Gaudagno as well as Ph.D. student Allison Lazard entitled “The Role of Implied Motion in Engaging Audiences for Health Promotion: Encouraging Naps on a College Campus.”

Lindsay Wilson and Kathy Phan, Housing and Food Service, presented “Healthy Marketing for Healthy Student Bodies” at the National Association of College & University Food Services National Conference in Baltimore, Md. The pair discussed how food service professionals can work together synergistically to provide nutrition education and promote not only positive student lifestyle changes but also food service operations.
