SWE K-12 outreach informs and encourages students, specifically females, to pursue the study of engineering through our high school and middle school camps. SWE also gives back to Austin through community service events.
Past Outreach Events:
High School Camp
With the help of the Women in Engineering Program at UT Austin, SWE holds an day camp with high school students from all over the state of Texas. Around 40-80 high schoolers participate to learn more about the different engineering majors and what engineers do on a daily basis.
High School Mentorship
With the help of Connally High School, UT SWE mentors high school students through a year long process that involved varied activities that teach high schoolers how to prepare for college and what to except when pursing an engineering degree.
Through the course of the year, UT SWE creates outreach videos that help explain and expand upon different misconceptions and concerns in engineering. These videos help reach broader audiences and encourage younger generations to pursue a degree in STEM.
If you are interested in doing any outreach events with UT SWE or have any questions please contact UT SWE VP Corporate, Ayah Alomari (firstname.lastname@example.org).
