The Hilmar G. Moore Endowed Scholarship is available to incoming and current UT Austin students who live in Fort Bend County, Texas. The George Foundation and The Henderson-Wessendorff Foundation created the scholarship program in honor of UT Austin graduate and former Richmond Mayor, Hilmar Moore. To qualify for the scholarship, students must have lived or attended school in Fort Bend County, Texas and be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Recipients must have a GPA of at least 3.0. Financial need, leadership qualities and community service will also be considered.
How to Apply
- Demonstrate financial need by applying for need-based financial aid by January 15 using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Entering Freshman Students
- Apply for admission using either the ApplyTexas application or the Coalition for College Access, Affordability, and Success application by December 1. There is no separate scholarship application; scholarship-specific questions will be available through MyStatus.
- Complete all Financial Information, Essay Topics required by Admissions, and select “The Honorable Hilmar G. Moore Endowed Scholarship” on Page 5 of the Scholarship Section.
Continuing and Transfer Students
- Complete the UT Austin Continuing & Transfer Scholarship Application by March 15 to be considered. (Application opens in early November.)
