United Daughters of the Confederacy Scholarships

United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) Scholarships are available to students who are descendants of Confederate Veterans. The scholarships are selected and awarded by the UDC committee, Texas Division, and can include students at The University of Texas at Austin. This scholarship is intended for students enrolled in at least 12 hours (full-time) at UT Austin and who have at least a minimum 3.0 UT GPA. Financial need may be used to distinguish among applicants. For more information, see the UDC Scholarships website.

General UDC Scholarship

For students of any academic level, freshman through graduate, and in any academic major at UT Austin, who are lineal descendants of Confederate Veterans. Applications are made directly to UDC through the local chapters in Texas.

How to Apply

Continuing Students

  1. Complete the UT Austin Continuing & Transfer Scholarship Application by March 15 to be considered. (Application opens in early November.)
  2. Complete and return the UDC Scholarship Application (PDF). The completed application is required and must be received in the UDC office no later than March 15.
  3. Demonstrate financial need by applying for need-based financial aid by March 15 using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Sally Carruth Farley Scholarship

For students who are Travis County residents and who are lineal descendants of Confederate veterans.

How to Apply

Continuing Students

  1. Complete the UT Austin Continuing & Transfer Scholarship Application by March 15 to be considered. (Application opens in early November.)
  2. Complete and return the UDC Sally Carruth Farley Scholarship Application. Please contact the UDC Scholarship committee to obtain a copy. The completed application is required and must be received in the UDC office no later than March 15.
  3. Demonstrate financial need by applying for need-based financial aid by March 15 using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
