Describe a shadowing experience that has impacted you the most.
My first shadowing appointment was with an OB/GYN, and I was able to witness a birth. Watching as a new human entered the world and take her first breath was an unforgettable experience. Also, around this time of the year I was preparing for my MCAT and had studied fetal development. It was awesome to be able to identify structures and functions of tissues that I had only seen in textbooks.
How has HCMP benefited your professional or individual goals?
ntering HCMP as an intern, I had pretty extensive shadowing experience with general surgery but no other specialties. I was able to learn about many different areas of medicine which helped me to appreciate the diversity of healthcare and the complexity of human anatomy and physiology.
What has been your favorite aspect of HCMP?
I have been able to develop friendships with like-minded students who are dedicated to a career in medicine. Members are very willing to collaborate and give advice to help each other achieve their goals.
