40 Winks at the 40 Acres

Please join us for a Bites of Wellness lunch and learn presentation on sleep. Sleep impacts everything from mood, metabolism, and productivity to coordination and reaction time. It is hard to feel your healthiest if you are not getting the quality and quantity of sleep that you need. In this talk, Dr. Carter will discuss the importance of sleep and tips for improving your sleep health. Join us to learn about why we sleep, what the drivers of sleep are, what disrupts sleep, and what you can do to improve your sleep.

Dr. Patricia Carter is an associate professor in the School of Nursing. As a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Sleep Research Society, she collaborates with interdisciplinary colleagues across the nation to explore the use of Behavioral Sleep Medicine approaches that can be useful to decrease insomnia in vulnerable populations. In the past 17 years of research, she has studied diverse populations, including college students and new mothers. She consults and advises on faculty and student projects that explore the use of Actigraphy for measuring sleep and activity in various populations (e.g., elderly, adolescents).
