Jessica Barr

Clinical Instructor

Pediatrics, School of Nursing

Jessica “Jess” Barr graduated from the University of Alabama with her BSN in 2010 and earned her MSN in Child Health with a Role Specialty in Teaching from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016. After graduation, Jess was invited to join the UT School of Nursing faculty as a clinical instructor. While her primary focus is pediatrics, she has experience with various levels of care across the lifespan. Previously she has worked in a pediatric transitional care & neurology rehabilitation unit, the trauma/surgical ICU, an outpatient heart/lung transplant and disease management clinic, and the neonatal ICU. She also currently does home infusions for a specialty pharmacy alongside her teaching position.

Jess has a passion for organ donation, health communication, genetics/rare genetic diseases, patients seeking substance abuse recovery, and, of course, kids. Outside of nursing, she loves traveling, watching football, baking, and spending time with her family, which includes her husband and their two fur babies. Additionally, she and her husband have a shared hobby as food instagrammers. You can find them and their restaurant ratings and suggestions @adventuresofgladysandporky
