Mary S. Cook, LMSW is a licensed social worker and has been in the social work field for over 30 years.  Her areas of interest and expertise include research, program development and practice with children, adults, and families in the areas of mental health and substance use recovery, with a special focus on diversity. She has worked as a community educator, researcher, therapist, and cultural anthropologist.  Currently, Mary manages the database for all the substance-use peer recovery coaches in Texas through a contract between the UT Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work’s Addiction Research Institute and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.  Additionally, Mary is a team member for the SAMHSA-funded  South Southwest Addiction Technology Transfer Center (SSWATTC), which is also part of the Addiction Research Institute.
