Lucas Hill earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Pharmacy before completing a pharmacy residency and faculty development fellowship in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Hill is now a clinical assistant professor of health outcomes and pharmacy practice at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. He precepts learners and provides comprehensive medication management services for patients with complex chronic diseases at the CommUnityCare Southeast Health & Wellness Center.

Dr. Hill is Director of Operation Naloxone, an interprofessional collaborative that provides overdose prevention training and resources to health professionals, educational institutions, and the public. He is the principal investigator for the Texas Targeted Opioid Response: Overdose Prevention Project which directs more than one million dollars in funding to combat the opioid crisis. Dr. Hill is also a co-investigator for a UT Center for Health Communication project that aims to promote effective use of the Texas prescription monitoring program. He is a faculty advisor for the UT Student Pharmacist Recovery Network and a board member for the Austin Harm Reduction Coalition.
