AAAFSA is providing financial support to its members for various professional development opportunities, such as conferences, workshops, classes, etc. Funding amounts are open, but will typically be around $450 or less depending on the account balance for that academic year. If you have a specific idea that will cost more, please apply and be specific about what the funds will be used for. If you are not currently a member but would like to become a member of AAAFSA, please visit https://sites.utexas.edu/aaafsa/. Please note it may take up to 3 – 4 weeks to make a decision, so apply early! Funds will be awarded on a rolling basis, so you can apply for more than one professional development opportunity. You will be notified via email.
APPLICANTS MAY APPLY FOR FUNDING:
– Discipline-specific professional development: where employees do not have professional development funds allocated to them in their departments or centers (i.e. conferences, presentations, continuing education courses, seminars, or professional association memberships)
-Non-discipline-specific professional development surrounding Asian/Asian American interests and advocacy. (i.e. presentations at conferences such as Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education, Austin-area symposia, and seminars from groups like the Austin Resources Center, etc.)
-Other possibilities: Is there an opportunity you’d like to have? A need you’ve found? Something we’re missing? Tell us what the need is and what we can do and all submissions will be considered.
APPLICATIONS WILL BE BASED ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
1) Scope and breadth of professional development
2) Cost of opportunity
3) Impact of professional development
