July 30, 2026 – Dr. Inhwan Kim defended his Doctoral Dissertation discussing his research on emergent phenomena in electro-optic oxide materials, including the linear electro-optic response in barium titanate (BaTiO3) and lithium niobate (LiNbO3). Theoretical studies of electro-optic responses and non-absorptive scattering losses are conducted using first-principles density functional theory (DFT) and the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method to utilize future applications of oxide thin-films in Si photonics. He is now pursuing his next career in patent drafting at Fish & Richardson in the DC area.
