Welcome back! I hope your winter break was enjoyable and restful!
We are excited about a record number of completed freshman applications for fall 2019. We have admitted about 6,000 students to specific majors and expect to add another 3,000 this week. When decisions are completed, more than 17,000 students will be offered a spot in Texas ’23. We ask that you please not announce this to students so they are notified through our normal emails and MyStatus messages.
As your seniors finish out the year, both applicants and admitted students to The University of Texas at Austin may now be thinking about what comes next. Here are a few things to consider:
- Financial aid: January 15 is the priority submission deadline for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students who submit FAFSAs by then will be considered for all types of available aid, but students can continue to submit FAFSAs beyond that date, too.
- On-campus housing: All UT Austin freshman applicants interested in living on campus in the fall should apply for on-campus housing. Students can apply as soon as they are notified that their admissions application is complete. Applying early may help students receive the residence hall preferences they indicate when they apply.
- Orientation: Registration for orientation will begin in early March. Students who have accepted their admission offers at that time will be able to register for orientation.
Stay tuned for more information about fall 2019 decisions soon. Until then, let me know if you have questions.
