Hey Members,
I hope everyone is enjoying October and all the fun events it brings! If you weren’t able to make it to the meeting tonight, swing by office hours with two canned goods so you can make up for the missed meeting point! Our next meeting will be Wednesday, October 21st at 6:00pmin PHR 2.108. If you bring $10 you can buy one of our awesome shirts, which get you an extra point every time you attend a meeting or an event while wearing it! Also, every member of ALDPES is given a certificate for being inducted into the club, so come by any office hours to pick up your certificate(s).

Social Events
This semester ALDPES has an Intramural Volleyball team! We will play on Sundays at 3:00 pm on the second floor of the REC Center. Wear your ALDPES shirt and come support your fellow ALDPES members as we go for gold (and earn a social point)! **There will NOT be a game this Sunday because of OU weekend. The next game will be Sunday, October 18th.
*** IM Team Members: Remember to check the FB group for updates about team colors before the games!
We are having a social event at the Bates Recital Hall on October 13th! We will watch the UT Orchestra perform at 7:30pm (Shout out to Joshua Choe for the invite)! In order to get a social point (or two if you wear an ALD PES shirt) you must sit with us. Our social coordinators will stay at the front doors until just before the concert starts so look for them wearing ALD PES shirts! Admission is free.

We will be having a profit share at RED MANGO on Wednesday, October 21st from 7:30-9:00pm (after the meeting). Come out and enjoy Fro-Yo with ALDPES Peeps and help us raise money for ALDPES!
We will also have a profit share on Thursday, October 29 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Moojo. Come out and try this great new ice cream-sandwich shop with all your friends from ALDPES!
Service Events
We will be helping St. Elias on Friday, October 16th and Saturday, October 17th with a Mediterranean festival. The link to sign up to be a volunteer is here.
Texas THON is great organization that we are going to be helping out! Here is a link to register with our team! On October 22nd there will be a pancake fundraiser with Pike to help our team raise money. There is also another opportunity to get points buy participating in a fundraiser to help raise money for Texas THON (more information to come at the next meeting)!

Spring Study Abroad Scholarship:
If you are studying abroad in the spring, apply for a $500 scholarship!

ALD Scholarships
Graduate Student Fellowship Scholarship
Each year National Alpha Lambda Delta awards one $7,500 fellowship, eight $5,000 fellowships and fourteen $3,000 fellowships. These fellowships have been established to help qualified members obtain graduate or professional degrees.

Jo Anne J. Trow Scholarship
Each year, National Alpha Lambda Delta awards 36 scholarships to outstanding undergraduate members. Only sophomores (by hours) can apply.

T-shirt special: Buy one red shirt for $10, get a blue shirt for $5! Come by any office hours to purchase shirts (remember cash can only be accepted at the Treasurers’ office hours though!)
Graduation Cords: Cords are $26 for active members and $36 for inactive members(This is for both ALD and PES; individually cords are $13 for active members and $18 for inactive members). Point Opportunities
- MEETINGS
- Meetings are worth 1 point each
- If you miss a meeting you can make up the point by bringing two canned goods to office hours BEFORE the next meeting.
- If you wear your ALDPES shirt to a meeting you get an additional point.
- DRIVING TO AN EVENT
- Get 1 extra point for volunteering to drive other members who need rides to an event
- Must tell the officer in charge if you can drive BEFORE the event to get a point
- EVENT PICTURES
- You may receive 1 point for turning in 8 quality photos for each service and/or social event you attend.
- You can choose to turn in a total of 16 quality photos for a maximum of 2 points per event.
- POINT CORRECTIONS
- An updated points list will be sent out on a regular basis, to give ALDPES members a chance to check that all their points have been counted correctly. Any discrepancies or mistakes must be reported to the secretaries within two weeks of the spreadsheet being sent out. After the two-week deadline has passed, no changes can be made to those events/points.
Important Policies
- POINT POLICY
- Of your points, in order to be considered an active member, you must have the following:
– At least 1 social point (i.e. you must attend at least one social event) – No more than 5 donation points
- Old members need 12 points, new members need 9 points
- CANNED GOODS POLICY
- If you miss a meeting, you can bring 2 CANNED GOODS to OFFICE HOURS to get your missed meeting point.
- You must turn in the canned goods BEFORE the next general meeting.
- WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
- Instead of getting a ridiculous number of emails for sign-ups and meeting reminders, we will be sending out a weekly newsletter every Wednesday!
- Sign-ups and everything else you used to get weekly will be linked in the weekly emails.
