Alpha Lambda Delta | Phi Eta Sigma
The University of Texas at Austin Chapter
Hey members,
Things keep on happening! There was a meeting! There was a social! There was a public Facebook page for new members! You can like it Here. It would really improve our self-esteem. A ridiculous amount of social and service stuff is happening, including Inside Books which is taking sign-ups Here! Some of our old speaker’s stuff’s deadlines have passed. However, some of them just keep lingering around, waiting for you to realize they’re the opportunity you always wanted even though they’re Duckie, your quirky childhood best friend. [Volleyball] is taking sign-ups Here! A totally new set of missed meeting points are available now! Just bring two items from the GMT donation list below during office hours before the next meeting! Our next meeting will be Wednesday, October 19th, 2016 at 6:00 pm in CAL 100 (South of the Tower). Hope to see you all there.
Best,
Christian Rivera
Phi Eta Sigma Secretary
Fun Fact of the Week: Duckie was originally written to get the girl at the end, but focus groups thought that was lame. Got too real with Duckie. Pretty in Pink was the equivalent of team Edward winning. Or team Peeta winning if he exploded part of the family. An absurd amount of movies are actually Pretty in Pink. Probably. I’ve never seen it.
Guest Speakers of the Week

Texas 4000
Frustrated by cancer to the point that you felt like biking to Alaska from Austin, but then thought better of it about 19 miles outside of the city because you did not know how that could help stop cancer or how to get to Alaska? We’ve all been there. Texas 4000 is forming teams for bike rides from Austin to Alaska to raise money for cancer research! Applications are due September 30th and can be found on their website Here. Lingering Oppurtunities: Duckie’s Dreams

ALDPES Social: Domesticated Wilderness Edition
On October 23rd, ALDPES is going to be hanging out in front of the capital building like it’s a 1970’s protest against the war. Except without the social unrest, protesting, or really any features of a 1970’s protest. Maybe the tension of some people wishing we weren’t there. Basically were just hanging out in front of the capital building. There’s going to be games and food.
