Alpha Lambda Delta | Phi Eta Sigma
The University of Texas at Austin Chapter
Hey ALDPES-ites,
Thanks to everyone who made it to our first meeting of the semester! For those who didn’t come, you missed out on free food. Why would you do that to yourself? Anyways, we have a lot of new info this week, so make sure to check out all the upcoming events and scholarships!
Our next meeting will be two weeks from now, Wednesday February 8th in WEL 3.502 from 6:00 – 7:00PM. (This will be the time and location for the rest of the semester) Hope to see you all there!
Best,
Alan Stepchinski
Alpha Lambda Delta Secretary
Fun Fact of the Week: **Slight spoiler warning for The Flash Season 2**
Even though almost every episode of The Flash starts with Barry saying “I am the fastest man alive”, this is incorrect. In fact, the main villains for the entire series are people faster than him. It’s what creates conflict in the show. Sorry, Barry.
Guest Speaker of the Week
Teach for America
If you weren’t able to make it to the meeting today, this program allows students to work as teachers in low-income schools. Their goal is to both help the kids in these classes and raise awareness for inequalities present in the education system.https://www.teachforamerica.org/
Info for the speaker: Jorge Galan jorge.galan@teachforamerica.org
Guests of Speakers Past
None for now. I suppose there are speakers from last semester and the years before that. It’s not that we don’t care about them anymore, but sometimes you just have to let things go.
Lingering Opportunities: Duckie’s Dreams
Seton Hospital Internship
If you are interested in a full time internship (unpaid…sorry!) at a Seton Hospital this summer that would consist of working with hospital volunteers (great for people interested in community outreach/people management or anyone just looking to get a foot in the door in the medical field), send me an email atluketerry@utexas.edu.

***DISCLAIMER*** You may notice that the deadlines stated here do not match the deadlines stated on the application links. This is because many of these applications have to go through the officer board and advisers before being submitted to national. Please go by the deadline I’ve given so we have plenty of time to review and select the applications.
Other Things
Scrapbook
We are always working on the scrapbook for ALDPES. If you attend any social or service event this semester or cherish a specific meeting speaker/ice breaker, email ALDPES a two to three sentence quote for half a point! Also, if you send in four quality photos you can receive another half point!
UTALDPES Follow Train
If you follow @UTALDPES on Twitter you can earn a half point. And you can also earn a half point for following utaldpes on Instagram. For those who struggle with math, that means you can earn 1 point for following both! (Points will be awarded the last week of class.)
T-shirt special
Buy one red shirt for $10! Come by any office hours to purchase shirts. (Remember cash can only be accepted at the Treasurer’s office hours though!)
Graduation Cords
Cords are $26 for active members and $36 for inactive members (this is for both ALD and PES; individually cords are $13 for active members and $18 for inactive members). Come by any office hours to purchase. (Remember cash can only be accepted at the Treasurers’ office hours though!)
Credit Cards
Credit cards are now being accepted! Stop by any of the officer’s office hours to pay by credit card. Be warned: there is a convenience fee! Prices for payment by credit cards are $10.28 per shirt, $13.37 per cord if you’re active, or $26.74 for both cords, and $18.51 per cord if you’re inactive, or $37.02 for both cords.
