Alpha Lambda Delta | Phi Eta Sigma
The University of Texas at Austin Chapter
Hey ALDPES members,
Sorry for the mix-up at the meeting today. We thought Texas Kids Read were coming to speak, but it was nice to talk to some of the new members instead! We have lots of service events, socials, and scholarship deadlines coming up soon, and I know you won’t want to miss out on those. As always, make sure to take pictures at events for the end-of-year scrapbook (and easy points)! Your favorite secretaries will be holding study hours from 6:00 – 9:00PM on Thursday, February 23rd in PCL 5.104. Snacks will be provided!
Our next meeting will be two weeks from today, Wednesday February 22nd in WEL 3.502 from 6:00 – 7:00PM. (This will be the time and location for the rest of the semester) Have a great week!
Best,
Alan Stepchinski
Alpha Lambda Delta Secretary
Fun Fact of the Week:
In the tales of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock never actually said “Elementary, my dear Watson”. The line was used in later media of Holmes, but diehard fans (not to be confused with Die Hard fans) argue that these are not canon.
Guest Speaker of the Week
Texas Kids Read
TKR supports reading education in schoolchildren by distributing books to kids who have a lack of literature in their lives. Feel free to check out their website!https://txkidsread.org/

This is a 9 week program during the summer to assist with Breakthrough’s academic summer sessions by teaching and mentoring kids striving to first-generation college graduates. Email utaldpes@gmail.com if you’re interested in applying, the deadline is February 23rd!
